LIUNA is in the business of recruiting, training, and representing Laborers. Along with the other unions of the building trades, we provide the workforce contractors need to deliver quality structures to owners and construction users. Our workforce development resources include:

• 70 state-of-the-art training facilities throughout the United States and Canada;
• More than 360 skilled instructors;
• 12,800 course offerings covering all aspects of Laborers' work;
• Hundreds of local unions recruiting and dispatching Construction Craft Laborers;
• 32 labor-management organizations marketing construction careers to young people;
• Job fairs and outreach to schools and community groups;
• The Construction Career Academy, a unique construction-centered public charter high school;
• Partnerships with industry, management groups, and other unions to recruit construction tradespeople.

Annually, more than 121,000 skilled Construction Craft Laborers participate in a wide range of training to upgrade existing skills and learn new ones. Our investment in training helps them keep up with a rapidly changing industry, and helps ensure our signatory contractors have the workforce they need. In 2004, that investment totaled more than $95 million.
