Signatory contractors have access to the professional services of the MRLHSF, including worksite audits, OSHA Construction Courses and Drug Testing Awareness Programs that limit workforce fatalities and injuries and decrease Workmen's Compensation costs. According to an OSHA analysis of trench fatalities, Union work is approximately twice as safe as non-union.

The direct correlation between training and productivity prompted LIUNA to begin a mandatory three-year apprenticeship program throughout the United States. Superior labor productivity improves construction schedules, quality and significantly reduces costs. An independent analysis showed that Union jobs are nearly 17% more productive and cost effective than non-union jobs.
